Humboldtforum feat. Merve Akyıldız

Freshly opened Humboldtforum museum and platform for world cultural heritage and arts invited Babylon ORCHESTRA to perform at “Durchlüften” (air out) festival this year (2021) with Turkish folk singer and pianist Merve Akyıldız.

Born in Izmir in 1994, she graduated from the piano department of the Antalya State Conservatory. The musician, who works in many styles at home and abroad, has been giving concerts with a Balkan-based World Music Project 'Merve Akyıldız Project' since 2018. She combines the gentle classical tunes with jazz improvisation and the colorful rhythms of Balkan songs from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Sırbia to offer an unusual repertoire on piano-vocal. 2020 – “YuMaK” (Folking around the World) - Singer 2020 – Babylon Orchestra, Berlin Singer and Recording Artist for second album (Evlerine varagele usandım)

Turkish bio:

1994’te İzmir’de doğan Piyanist ve Şarkıcı Merve Akyıldız Antalya Devlet Konservatuvarı Piyano Bölümü’nden mezun oldu. Yurtiçi ve yurtdışında bir çok tarzda çalışmalar yapan müzisyen, 2018’dan beri Balkan merkezli Dünya Müzikleri konseptindeki ‘Merve Akyıldız Project’ ile konserler veriyor. Aynı zamanda YuMaK ekibinin vokal üyesidir ve Berlin’de bulunan Babylon Orkestra ile solist olarak performans sergilemektedir.
